Bulgarian students continue their work in eTwinning projects

The Greek schooll welcomed the Czech e-Twinners to Greece

Mr. Apostolos Psarros, the Head teacher of 1st Gymnasium of Chaidari, welcomed Czech e-Twinners to our school.
“Dear students and colleagues
Being in the post of Head Teacher in the 1st Gymnasium of Chaidari, I welcome you to our school. I hope you had good time and enjoyed your visit in Greece.
It is always a great honor to have in our school our European partners. By the way, I’d like to congratulate you on getting the first prize for the e-Twinning program “The trees of friendship”. May our friendship grow like the leaves of Platanus and Tilia and last as the age last trees. May the roots of the trees of friendship spread and attract more and more students every year.
Let me introduce the sole of our program from the Greek side Mrs. Helen Grigoriadou, who got busy the last five years with the e-Twinning programs in our school. We all thank her for encouraging our students, giving them the chance to know their European colleagues and expand their knowledge generally.
Also, I invite Mrs. Despina Moysidou, the other co-partner of the “Trees of friendship” responsible for the day twinning ceremony of our schools.
Thank you again for visiting us and I hope will get the chance to return the honour you gave us, by visiting your country and your school with our students. I wish you all the best for the rest of your journey through Greece.”

When I started the project “The trees of friendship” and I was seeking out the cooperation of e-twinners, I could not foresee this project’s success that resulted in this wonderful event.
I feel very lucky because the cooperation between all the participating teams was very smooth, in particular with your school. At this point I would like to express my thanks and appreciation to Mrs Jarmila Ceperova, who directly involved in the project, for her friendly feelings towards our country and school.

I am confident that the friendly relationship and cooperation between our schools will continue for many years to come. Although, I will not be involved in future projects, my thoughts and feelings will always be with you, all the participants.

"On April 2010 was National eTwinning Conference in Zlin and our common project "The trees of friendship" was very well evaluated. . .
We have acquired an amount from our Regional company, which must be used to exchange students who worked on the project or work on other projects eTwinning. We would like to visit Greece, to learn about the cultural, historical and natural richness of your beautiful country. Great motivation and desire is, of course, meet with you and your students"

The Twinning Ceremony of 1st Gymnasium of Chaidari, Athens, Greece and Gymnázium T.G.Masaryka Hustopeče, Czech Republic, took place on 27th September 2010.
The Head Teacher of the Greek School, Mr Apostolos Psarros, and from the Czech School Mrs Jarmila Ceperova signed the Twinning Protocol.

The two partner school, the Czech from Hustopece and the Greek from Chaidari, have made birthday cakes for the calabration of 5 years e-Twinning.

Greek Quality Labels for this e-Twinning Project

Cork oak in Ancient History

In Ancient Egypt the cork was already used. Vessels with cork tops have been found in millenarian sarcophagus.
In Ancient Greece, cork was used to make balls for fishing nets, to make sandals and to cover wine and oil crocks.
The Greek philosopher Teofrasto (3rd century B.C) was the one who discovered that cork could be removed from the corkoak without damaging it. The Greeks used burnt cork to darken hair. In Efeso, a glass amphora from the 1st century B.C, containing wine and with a cork top has been found.
Romans also used cork. The agricultural technician, Lucio Columela (1st century B. C.), recommended cork to be used on making beehives. Because of its thermal isolation qualities, Plinius the Elder, wrote about the convenience of using cork on building houses.

The Andre Citroen Park

It's a fourteen hectares park on the bank of the Seine. This amazing park was built on the former Citroen manufacturing automobile plant. It opened in 1992.
Its landscape designers are G. Clement and A. Provost and its architects are P. Berger, J-F Jodry and J-P Vignier.
People love wandering through this park and its serial gardens, children enjoy playing there and sporty people often go jogging in its alleys...
